ActiveSync via Bluetooth to PPC-6700

E-mail Print PDF

Assuming you're using XP, try this:

  • In the System Tray, check on your bluetooth device's properties to find out what Comm Port it is using.
    • In one particular case, right click on the bluetooth System Tray icon, Advanced Configuration, Local Services tab. Look at the Com Port assigned to Bluetooth Serial Port. In this case it was COM 4.
  • In ActiveSync on the PC, go to File->Connection Settings.
    • Check the Box that says Allow connections to one of the following. In the drop down box you should seem the COM port from above.
    • Select that and hit OK.
  • Now on the 6700 go into the BT Partnership setup and set-up a new partnership.
    • One of the options listed as a 'service' now should be ActiveSync
    • If you didn't do the steps above it'll still say Serial Port or something.
    • Check the ActiveSync box.
  • Initiate a sync on the PPC-6700.
    • Start -> Programs -> ActiveSync -> Menu -> Connect via Bluetooth
  • As a tool to see if you can connect
    • At the PC, go to the bluetooth connection manager
      • view devices
      • drill down to the serial port
      • try to connect it - right-click connect
