These are just a few notes pertaining to the support of MS Outlook which I'll be adding to.
Outlook 2007 Mark Messages as Read When Viewed in Reading Pane

Outlook 2003 Address Book Configuration
These instructions are for Outlook 2003, but other versions are similar.
These notes are only meant as a quick guide to help you configure your contacts listing within Outlook. For example, you want your company shared contacts to show up first when you click the 'To:' button when addressing e-mail. These instructions will help. Please don't ask me why Microsoft made this so difficult...
Make Your Contact List Appear in the Outlook Address Book
- go to the Folders View
- click the folder icon on the bottom left
- right-click your personal or shared contact folder and choose Properties
- click the Outlook Address Book tab
- select Show this folder...
- click OK
- click the Outlook Address Book tab
- go to the Contacts View
- click on the Contacts icon in the lower left corner
- click the Address Book icon in the tool bar above
-
- click Tools -> Options
-
- select the address list to show first when creating a new message
- click on the Contacts icon in the lower left corner
Now, when you create a new e-mail message, your selected contacts list should be automatically listed when you click the 'To:' button to address the message.
Outlook Startup Switches
Microsoft Outlook can be started with numerous 'switches' that alter how Outlook starts. These switches can also be used to repair various functions or reset various functions back to default settings.

Here are some tips for the new OL2003 graphical interface.
Outlook 2003 Navigation Pane
You can use this switch to reconfigure the new Outlook 2003 navigation pane in order that shared contacts and shared calendars show up where they are supposed to.

I even go so far as to modify my shortcuts to include this switch every time I start Outlook 2003.
- right-click the Outlook shortcut icon
- choose Properties
- add the switch to the end of the command line
Outlook 2003 Shared Contacts
Getting shared contacts to be listed under "My Contacts" is easy, but there is a small trick.
Follow these directions exactly without clicking anything else in the process.
1) close Outlook
2) open Outlook
3) click the folder icon in the lower left corner to go to Folders View
4) right-click the shared contacts folder under Public Folders
5) click 'add to My Contacts'
You may find results vary if you deviate!
